The Indianapolis Black Expo Founders Established in 1970 here in Indiana the IBE was formed. A trip to Chicago would be influential in the idea to have an event in the state of Indiana. The credited founders are Rev Andrew Brown, Willard Ransom, and James Cummings Jr presented the community with this annual celebration. This post civil rights movement continues to deal with economic, political, and social issues in the black community. Consisting of religious and civic leaders IBE has addressed youth , education, and health problems involving programs to create solutions.Helping students with the Youth Media Institute a free educational curriculum assisting with achieving academic excellence in the field of media production. Having 12 chapters in the state of Indiana this non-profit organization has served its citizens statewide for decades. Events such as the circle city classics and summer celebration that have been supported from entertainers, entrepreneurs, and guest from around the world. Phyliss Carr, Hellen Perkins Charles and Barbra Wilson are recognized for their outstanding work in helping shape IBE’s growth and purpose it stands for today.
