Sherry Sims views her role as a catalyst for Black women in the workplace. She’s the founder and CEO of Black Career Women’s Network (BCWN). The Oklahoma City Native, currently completing her degree at Xavier University in Organizational Leadership, has more than 14 years experience in human resources, with special expertise in Talent Acquisition. While working for such corporations as CVS Pharmacy, AT&T, and AOL/Time Warner, Sims saw the lack of support and mentorship for professional Black women. It motivated her to create the Black Career Women’s Network as an online forum in 2008. She expanded the organization’s outreach in 2012. She increased the Black Career Women’s Network effectiveness in 2012 through utilizing the LinkedIn group. BCWN is now a national organization with online communities, an exclusive Mentor’s list, virtual career resources, and multiple events designed to further support Black women’s professional development. The organization has been spotlighted in such online publications as blackenterprise.com, CNBC.com and madamenoire.com. and profiled in numerous newspapers and magazines. Sims has also been featured in publications throughout the Cincinnati area, where she appears as a recurring Careers Expert on Fox 19, and nationally. Past honors include being part of Who’s Who in Black Cincinnati, and being named Woman of the Year by the Cincinnati Grad Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta. Sherry Sims is the 2017 Woman of Worth Award Winner.
