Sharon Kay

A Nashville, Tennessee transplant, Sharon Kay is an award-winning media professional currently serving as WFSK’s General Manager, a position she has held since 2005. She is the first female to hold this position in the station’s history. Ms. Kay’s syndicated program “What’s the 411” has been a part of the African American Public Radio Consortium (AAPRC) satellite programming options available to public, community & HBCU stations. In 2009, she was named the cities (Nashville’s) Best Radio Station General Manager at the 13th Annual Achievement in Radio Awards, making her the first African American to receive the award. Starting her radio career in Topeka, KS in the late 1970s at WREN, where she broke color and gender barriers, Ms. Kay has served as a host at WLAC AM-1510 and 92Q, as well as a weekend associate producer at WSMV. Credited with developing The Tennessee REDLINE, an alcohol and drug prevention hotline, Sharon is a long-standing community activist and enthusiast, having sat on several boards around the world.
